The annual FODL Appreciation Awards will be held on May 7th at Groves HS at 7pm.

Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition (BBCC) is hosting Youth Mental Health First Aid USA Trainings for Adults Assisting Youth on
Saturday, May 16, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Taught by certified instructors, you will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression, substance abuse disorders and psychosis in youth ages 12-18. March Meeting Information

The March PTA Council meeting will be held Monday March 23rd at West Maple Elementary School at 7 pm. The agenda, which will be posted later this week, will reflect the changes discussed at the February workshop. Please be sure to complete your school spreadsheet for the best practices discussion.

Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition (BBCC) is in need of volunteers, adults and teens, to help us assemble our annual Parents Who Host mailing. We have 8,000 pieces to assemble for families of high school teens in our community. This entails stuffing the envelopes, as well as labeling, stamping and sealing them. Whatever amount of time someone can give will be appreciated. We are in need of your help anytime March 23 – April 10. Please contact Leanne at 248.203.4615 or

Building Better Families Through Action will present “Parenting Renewed: Busting the Myth of the Perfect Parent” on April 21, 2015 at 10:00 am.  Presented by Deb Zupancic at the Doyle Center (7275 Wing Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills).

Birmingham Education Foundation will be hosting ‘Expedition 2015 – Designing a Better World’ on April 22, 2015 at Groves High School, 6:00-8:00 pm. This is the 4th year that BEF will celebrate student (STEAM) activities, with hands-on activities for everyone and science oriented entertainment.  The last few years, over 700 students and their families have participated in this wonderful hands-on evening. Community organizations and businesses that are focusing on making the world a better place will also be featured. Be sure to share this event information with your families!


February Meeting Information

The February PTA Council meeting will be held 2/23 at Pierce Elementary School. This month’s agenda is focused on sharing of ‘best practices’ for the Unit Presidents and Council leadership.  The meeting will begin at 7 pm with two informative presentations on the bond proposal, followed by an open discussion.

January Meeting Information

January’s PTA Council meeting will be held on Monday 1/26 at Quarton Elementary School in the Media Center. Birmingham Education Foundation (BEF) Update

The 14th Annual Unabashed Bash ‘Be a Super Hero for Our Students’ will be held on Saturday February 7th at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham at 6:30 pm.  The ‘Bash’ is an evening of dining and entertainment with silent and live auctions, supporting programs and grants for Birmingham Public Schools.  Visit the BEF website at to register or to participate in the On-Line auction.

Community Information

BBCC (Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition) will be hosting two important programs for our teens and their families over the next two weeks.

“How to Navigate Your Way Through Today’s Teen Challenges” will be held this Wednesday (1/28) at Seaholm’s Wagner Auditorium, from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.

“7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” will be held on Saturday, February 7th, from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm.  This program is designed for high school athletes in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills.

November Meeting Information

The November PTA Council meeting will take place on Monday 11/24 at Bingham Farms Elementary School.  Refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm and official business will begin at 7 pm.  Dr. Nerad will be presenting an update to the Strategic Plan, and discuss the Facilities, Technology and Safety review.  We will also have an informative update on legislation in the lame duck session.  The complete agenda and meeting minutes to approve are listed below.

October Meeting Information

The October meeting is scheduled for Monday 10/27 at Seaholm High School in the Little Theatre.  Please park in the lot near the football field; signs will be posted to direct attendees to the Theatre.   The Board of Education candidates will be speaking tonight, giving Unit Presidents and the Community an opportunity to meet Walter Rothschild, Jessica Thomas and Steve Scheidt before election day.  There will be refreshments beginning at 6:30 pm and the meeting will begin promptly at 7 pm.

Reminder: Reflections Informational Meeting Monday September 27th

The Reflections Chairs, Lisa Kelley and Kelly Badhwar, will be hosting a meeting at Panera at Maple and Coolidge in Troy.  Lisa and Kelly will be discussing school, district and state level due dates, paperwork processing and event judging. Please bring questions and ideas to share with your fellow BCS representatives.


September Meeting Information

The first meeting of the 2014/15 school year is scheduled for Monday September 29th at Pembroke Elementary. The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with a social in the school lobby. Be sure to arrive early to sample snacks and refreshments from Chartwells, the new BPS food service provider. Official business will begin promptly at 7 pm.

Treasurer’s Meeting
